Jeep Unveils Three New SUV EVs – Recon, Wagoneer S, Avenger

At the 4xe Day event, Jeep introduced three brand-new, allelectric vehicles that will hit the assembly lines in the next two years. As part of its electrification push, the company will launch four new electric vehicles for North America and Europe by 2025. By the end of this decade, all Jeep models for Europe will be electric, while the US lineup will be half all electric.

The Recon and Jeep Wagoneer S are two zero-emission vehicles from Jeep for international markets, while the Avenger is exclusively for Europe. The automaker has revealed the pictures of these three models, but we only know limited information about each of these. Let’s discuss each separately:

2024 Jeep Recon

Possibly, the most interesting of all these electric vehicles is the Recon, which Jeep links with the Wrangler. We can clearly see its resemblance with the popular Wrangler, and Jeep says it would match its off-road prowess as well.

The Recon comes with removable doors, a one-touch power top, and trail-rated capabilities. The off-roading journeys would be a breeze through Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management, e-locker axle tech, and bigger off-road tires. We do not know anything about batteries, motors, or performance, but we can tell it is underpinned on the Stellantis STLA Large platform.

While talking to the journalists during 4xe Day presentation, Jeep Brand CEO Christian Meunier said the Recon is not Wrangler’s substitute. The EV will be developed in 2024, offering customers plenty of accessory options for off-roading. The booking will start in early 2023.

2024 Jeep Wagoneer S

While the Recon is off-road-focused, the Wagoneer S is similar to the crazy Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Similar to the Recon, the details of battery and motors are a mystery, but the company pledged a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.5 seconds and an approximate drive range of 400 miles.

The sleek SUV will also employ the STLA Large platform, and while it owns a Wagoneer moniker, it is closer to the Grand Cherokee. Jeep has created it from scratch with plenty of interior space for occupants and luggage. It will be a midsize SUV developed in the US. The development will start in 2024, with bookings available from the start of 2023.

2023 Jeep Avenger

Built for European customers, the relatively smaller Avenger EV will also go on sale in Japan and South Korea, slotted under Renegade. The details are scarce, but we can tell it will be available before its larger siblings.

The Avenger will show its face to the public on October 17 during the Paris Motor Show. The sale will start in early 2023.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe

Apart from these three EVs, Jeep intends to reveal another SUV we have no information about. However, Jeep said a vehicle debut is planned for the Detroit Auto Show. Moreover, we saw Jeep North America CEO Jim Morrison teasing a Grand Wagoneer 4xe hybrid offering about 500 miles of drive range. The launch date wasn’t mentioned, but we would know about it during the media days for the Detroit Auto Show, which is imminent.
