The German luxury automotive giant Mercedes-Benz has introduced a few upgrades for the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe variants featuring V8 powertrains. In 2021, the automaker upgraded the V6-powered variants – the GT 43 and GT 53. For the 2022 mid-cycle refresh, we now have the updated Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S boasting slight yet considerable design changes in addition to a crucial performance increase.

Speaking of alteration on the front, we can clearly see that the new design resembles the most robust model in the lineup i.e. the AMG GT 63 S E Performance PHEV. Comparing both the models of the 63-family, we do not find much difference now.

Besides tweaks on the front fascia, customers now have more colour choices. Customers who go for the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe 63 and 63 S will now be able to pick from four matte shades, four metallic hues, and two solid tints comprising two fresh shades unveiled for the V6 models in 2021. Those were the Spectral Blue Metallic and Spectral Blue Magno.

Other than that, buyers now have two unique coat finishes for the Editions model. These include the Green Light Magno and the murky jewel colour Manufaktur Rubellite Red Metallic. The distinct paints complement a pair of 21-inch AMG-built wheels.

For the interior, Mercedes also offers new shades and trims as well as the AMG Performance steering wheel.

Another standard feature the buyers would appreciate in the AMG GT 63 and AMG GT 63 S is the AMG Ride Control+ suspension with continuously adjustable pressure relief valves. The system tweaks the damping power for every wheel to conform to the condition in only a few milliseconds. Drivers can alter the settings via different drive modes.

As far as the power output is concerned, the top-of-the-line AMG GT 4-Door Coupe still carries a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 good for 585 horsepower (430 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque in the GT 63 model. Those looking for an extra grunt should opt for the GT 63 S offering extra power from the same turbo V8. The automaker rates it at 639 hp (470 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.

If you are interested in buying the refreshed AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S, you can order them now. The less powerful GT 63 starts at around €158,162 (or $173,400 according to the present exchange rates). The luxury sedan will first hit the roads in Europe next month. Sales in other countries will follow soon.
