    December 30th 2016     Suhail Ajmal

The 2017 Audi TT RS was unveiled in both coupe and convertible models in April 2016 at the Beijing Motor Show. It was displayed in Dubai in November by Al Nabooda Automobiles, the official representative of Audi in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, in an event where the company launched Audi Sport brand. We recently got a chance to test drive this fantastic all-wheel drive Audi TT RS Coupe and here are our findings.

Walk Around

Talking about the exterior, the 2017 Audi TT RS Coupe boasts an aesthetically designed body with large air inlets and a new single-frame honeycomb grille along with stylish LED headlamps. The rear comprises of the new Matrix OLED lights, a rear wing and twin exhaust pipes. The overall body is aerodynamically efficient and looks aggressive.

Interior

Let’s have a look at the trunk space before getting inside. Since it’s a coupe, I was not expecting it to offer good storage capacity. Nevertheless, the luggage capacity of 305 liters is still impressive.

The cockpit is beautifully designed giving a feel of sitting in a sports car. The Audi RS sport seats feature head restraints, which make long drives comfortable. Behind the leather wrapped steering wheel is Audi’s virtual cockpit which displays all the vital information related to the car and the road. The front dash incorporates an amazing infotainment system and latest tech equipment.

2017 Audi TT RS Coupe Specs

The 2017 Audi TT RS Coupe gives you only one engine option:

  • The 2.5-Liter TFSI 5-cylinder unit with dual injection system delivering 400 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque.

The engine is mated to a seven-speed S-Tronic Dual-Clutch transmission system, allowing the driver to shift gears manually.

Driving Impression

Just like the Audi R8, the 2017 Audi TT RS also starts with a push button located near the steering wheel. The Audi TT RS 2.5L TFSI engine has been voted as the ‘Engine of the Year’ at various occasions, and there is no reason why this car doesn’t deserve this award. The performance is outstanding, thanks to the S-Tronic transmission system, which ensures smooth gear shifting and delivers the power intelligently to all the four wheels. The road grip is equally impressive, especially around the corners and tight edges. The wheel-selective torque control further ensures tremendous handling, while the light weight chassis system renders a comfortable drive on different terrains. I was able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and attained a top speed of 280 km/h.

Despite carrying a powerful engine, the fuel average of Audi TT RS Coupe is phenomenal. It consumed 8.2 liters to cover 100 kilometers during our test drive.

Technological Overview

The Audi TT RS Coupe has tons of advanced interior facilities including the latest Audi virtual cockpit with 12.3-inch display, MMI infotainment system with navigation and voice recognition, Audi phone box, Wi-Fi hotspot, smart-phone integration and the spectacular Bang & Olufsen Sound System.
