The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is a revolutionary addition to the legendary sports car lineup, launching as the first-ever electrified model. With its powerful electric motor and 6.2-liter V8, the hybrid E-Ray boasts a total output of 665 horsepower, capable of reaching 60 miles per hour in a mere 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest production ‘Vette ever. The quarter-mile sprint is completed in just 10.5 seconds, cruising at 130 mph.
Fitted with an electric motor on the front axle producing 160 horsepower and 125 pound-feet, the E-Ray also boasts a 1.9-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery that powers the system. In “Stealth Mode,” the hybrid Corvette can silently glide up to 45 mph, perfect for a stealthy exit from a neighborhood.
The E-Ray also features the familiar LT2 6.2-liter V8 from the Stingray, producing 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The E-Ray’s innovative powertrain is further enhanced by the integration of a lightweight 12-volt lithium-ion battery, designed to provide seamless power to the ICE’s stop-start system.
Beyond its impressive powertrain, the E-Ray boasts a number of other special features, such as the standard Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension system and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. Rolling on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires, the E-Ray’s tires come in a staggered 20- and 21-inch size, ensuring maximum grip on the road, with the option to upgrade to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer rubber.
With its striking design, the E-Ray stands out from the standard Stingray, boasting a 3.6-inch wider body and a front fascia with more prominent horizontal elements, as well as new vents in the rear bumper. Customers can choose from a wide range of exterior colors, including the new shades Riptide Blue, Seawolf Gray, and Cacti, with the option to add a carbon ground effects kit for a sportier look.
The E-Ray will also be available with a model-exclusive Electric Blue body stripe, or customers can opt for black exhaust tips and bright badging. In terms of wheel options, buyers can choose from four aluminum wheel designs or a carbon fiber choice, providing a perfect blend of style and performance.
Safety is also a key aspect of the E-Ray, with all 2024 Corvettes featuring updated driver assistance technology such as lane-keep assist with departure warning, forward-collision alert, and automatic emergency braking. The E-Ray will hit showrooms later this year, with prices starting at $104,295 for the 1LZ coupe and $111,295 for the 1LZ convertible.
