Toyota unveiled the 2023 Highlander four months back, featuring a new turbocharged 2.4-litre gasoline engine. The company didn’t reveal the pricing details at that time, but now we know about that.
The front-wheel drive model with a four-cylinder engine will start at $36,420. On the other hand, the all-wheel-drive model will sell at $38,020. Both prices do not include destination fees.
Regarding the new turbo engine, it produces 265 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, which is 30 hp less but 46 lb-ft more than the previous naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6. Surprisingly, the EPA estimates remain the same, with 25 miles per gallon combined for the new Highlander. For all models, the 2.4-liter unit splits NOx and NMOG (non-methane organic gasses) emissions.
With the new turbo mill, the new Highlander can tow up to 5,000 pounds, and Trailer Sway Control is part of the deal to aid in retaining the trailer in check. The stop/start system is standard to save fuel in the idle state, and the automaker mentions the 17% bump in torque would make the driving experience more pleasant for all eight occupants.
There are plenty of other changes Toyota made to the Highlander. The upper-level Limited and Platinum variants offer dual 12.3-inch screens as standard. The XLE and XSE buyers can opt for a larger infotainment screen while the seven-inch gauge cluster remains standard.
The power-folding side mirrors are regular for the Limited and Platinum, while the wireless charging pad takes a place underneath the display screen.
The pictures we see here are of the 2023 Highlander sporting Cypress Green paint, which is new for this model year. The Bronze Edition for the Hybrid also comes with some exclusive paints such as Cement Grey and Wind Chill Pearl.
The 2023 Toyota Highlander will hit the U.S. showrooms next month. The availability in the Gulf is still a mystery.
