The Genesis GV80 came at the start of last year and soon won many hearts. The South Korean luxury automaker’s first SUV slots itself at the top of the hierarchy with seating available for seven people in three rows. However, U.S. customers will soon be able to opt for a two-row variant of the SUV, according to RoadShow. Surprisingly, this four-seat model will sit at the top of the model range and will be accessible at some point next year.
If you have been following the news, you might know that in August, Genesis introduced a six-seat GV80 for the South Koran market with second-row captain’s seats. The new four-seat Genesis GV80 for America will borrow many facilities from the six-seater. Therefore, we can predict to have a centre console splitting the seats, heated and cooled cupholders, a wireless phone charger, four-zone climate control, audio controls, and so on. Besides, we also expect to have a couple of rear-seat infotainment displays that we found in the six-seater.
While not confirmed but rumours say the new variant will be called the GV80 Prestige Signature. Under the hood of the posh utility vehicle will be a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 yielding 375 horsepower (279 kilowatts) and 391 pound-feet (530 Newton-meters) of torque.
The mill mates to an eight-speed automatic transmission, channelling power to all the wheels. While we don’t know the price yet, we think it will jump over the $70,000 mark.
The 2022 Genesis GV80 Prestige Signature would be an excellent flagship luxury SUV for the brand. However, it might not stay at this podium very long as rumours have it that Genesis is working on a bigger GV90 SUV that will be their flagship model. Surprisingly, it will come with zero-emission.
The GV90 will obviously slot above the GV80 and will be underpinned on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform). We believe its debut will happen in 2023 and the new flagship SUV will hit the roads in 2024. While it is a good move to cater to the rising demand for EVs, the four-seat GV80 is probably a better choice at the moment for most buyers.
The posh four-seat 2022 Genesis GV80 should also be available in the GCC.
