The 2019 Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV concept was recently previewed at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show and now it has been caught testing on the roads.
Although the body kit is similar to the F-Pace SUV, the front grille and the front bumper look different. Also, the wheelbase has been stretched and widened, plus the roof has been lowered for a sportier look.
The automaker states the Jaguar I-Pace will differ compared to the F-Pace SUV and will also be built on a separate assembly line. The platform features a new “skateboard’ design where the battery is placed on the floor and powers the electric motors located on the axles.
The 2019 Jaguar I-Pace is expected to be equipped with a 90-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery along with electric motors generating a total of 200 horsepower. It will have a range of up to 220 miles.
According to a report, Jaguar plans to launch two new electric models by 2019 to compete with the Tesla Model S and Model X. It is possible that one of these two would be the 2019 I-Pace electric SUV. The official launch can take place sometime in mid-2018.
